Mediation

Mediation is a method of dispute resolution in which an impartial third party (mediator) meets with the disputing parties and helps them discuss their issues with each other, examine alternatives, and come to an agreement that satisfies both parties. The mediator does not play the role of a judge or decision-maker in this process. The parties themselves make their own decisions. The mediator acts as a facilitator.

The City of Boulder has established the Boulder Community Mediation Service. Trained mediators are available to help resolve landlord/tenant and roommate disputes, at no charge to the disputing parties. If you would like to have a mediator help you, contact the City of Boulder Human Rights Office, 441-4364. Other mediation services are available. Check the yellow pages under "Mediation."
