A Big Thanks to Cooper Square Committee

Cooper Square Committee, a longtime presence on the Lower East Side with a longtime history of fighting for the preservation and creation of affordable housing added yet another credit to its list of good works. Last October Cooper Square offered the use of its offices to Met Council’s Lower East Side Branch in order that we may continue our longtime presence in the neighborhood.

Thanks to Cooper Square, you can find Met Council volunteers at Cooper Square Committee, 61 East 4th Street, every Tuesday evening at 6:30 offering walk-in tenant counseling to an ever-growing population of tenants from the five boroughs. They are all seeking help and information on tenants’ rights, on how to fight the growing cases of landlord harassment, on how to organize their buildings and innumerable other tenant problems.

So here is a heartfelt THANK YOU, COOPER SQUARE from everyone at Met Council and from the tenants who have benefitted by their drop-in visits on Tuesday evenings.
