Met Council has endorsed Margarita Lopez for the Manhattan 2nd District City Council seat now held by Antonio Pagan.

As a Democratic district leader on the Lower East Side, Margarita has worked to organize thousands of tenants against Republican attempts to deregulate public and private housing.

She has a 20-year history as a social-justice activist and has been a consistently progressive voice in her community, working with grass-roots organizations on many issues important to it.

Because of her proven record, Met Council urges tenants and everyone concerned with affordable housing to vote for Margarita Lopez for City Council in the upcoming September primary elections.
