Is there an "acceptable" due by date, or number of days before rent is considered "late" if there is no mention of it anywhere in a lease? I have heard anywhere between 1 minute after midnight on the 1st (in a previous post), to ten days, or fifteen days?

Also if there is no written late fee clause, can a landlord verbally impose this ruling?
