: I live in a large apt. complex in Charlotte, NC. We signed a 7 month lease
: agreement that says "the term of this lease will be automatically renewed
: on a month-to-month basis unless"... "(1) either party provides the other
: party with a written notice of termination at least 60 days prior to the end
: of the initial rental term OR at least 30 days prior to the end of any month-
: to month term". I gave them 60 days notice and want to leave before all 7
: months are up. They say I owe them for all 7 months and can't just give 60 days
: notice at any time in the first 7 months. I say I can by what is written in
: lease I signed. Am I right?

How long did you wait before you gave them the notice? From the first condition,
your stating "Notice of termination at least 60 days PRIOR to the end of the
initial rental term" This tell me you have 60 days to cancel or terminate the
lease once signed. Did you wait till after 60 days have passed? If so, then the
second statement, "at least 30 days prior to the end of any month-to-month term"
This I'm a little foggy on. Does it mean 30 days before the next month, you have
to give written notice of termination or 30 days before the end of 7 months with
written notice before NOT re-newing lease?
