Yes i know I'm a jackass sometimes...... but the chance of getting an affordable Housing unit is about he same as hitting the lottery..
I mean how would you decide who deserves one of those 20%? a mother with 3 kids whos father died of cancer and who has a job? or a mother with 3 kids who has 3 fathers all in jail, who deals drugs and slips a case worker a grand to get her name from #1000 to #10 on the list?
a lottery is the most equal way, when you have such rediculous odds and the potential for such abuse.

: Richard, if you're going to continue to be a jackass, why don't you at least
: provide accurate information. It's not true that there's any requirement that
: applies to all buildings. Some take advantage of inclusionary housing and
: tax abatement programs, and these might require up to 20% affordable housing
: for a period of time (15-20 years) after which it goes to market rate. But
: many buildings do not use these programs. And there are a variety of methods
: to choose tenants. Go to the local Community Board to start the hunt.
: : GET on you Knees and pray for the NEXT 10 YEARS you might win the Lottery,
: : YUP...its usually done by lotterey 2000 3000 4000 people for 50 apartments..
: : Feeling lucky??????????????
: : --------------------------------------
: : : Is it true that any newly constructed "luxury" apartment building in Manhattan must set aside
: : : a certain percentage of it's units for low income residents?
: : : If so, how does one go about finding out about these apartments?
