: I have heard that if your landlord cashes at least three checks directly from your account, you defacto become the leasee. Any thuth to this?
: I have been subleting for over a year and paying the past tenant a hefty premium despite the fact that she has no intentiopn of coming back to New York.
: I am thinking of sending the landlord this months rent directly and seeing what happens.
: Your insight would be appreciated.

My husband and I have been subleting for almost 2 years, our lease is up
May 2000. I just received a letter from the landlord
that we will not be offered to sign a lease. They have cashed all of our
checks from day one, so that makes exactly 20 to date. We are hiring an attorney
to fight this and I will ask this question. I will keep you posted.
