Where do you live and whose name is on the lease now? Depending where you live it is true the landlord does not have to add your name, in fact taking the other persons name off the lease was an exception, the landlord did not have to do that much. It is most likely that the landlord had their reasons for taking the other person off, they definitely do not have to add a name. However, again depending on where you live, you do have certain rights as a roommate though limited. If the individual who is the primary lease holder decides to leave that changes things. Tell me where you live and how many apartment units are in your building and I will tell you more.
