Landlord refuses to fix roof.

Posted by Jude on February 17, 2000 at 18:37:09:

I am renting a house in Suffolk County, Brookhaven. I have had a leaking roof for over six months. I am constantly bringing this to my landlors attention but he keeps blowing it off. He once threw a tarp over the roof and secured it with bricks placed on the tarp but that didn't last very long. The water damage is so bad now that the drywall on the wall is buckling and the ceiling is starting to crack. I am moving in a month but I want to withold the last months rent because of his lack of attention to the roof. Wait, theres more. He has a pool in the back that he refused to drain so it is a huge fly attracter. Please help!
