Your in big trouble.
The broker isn't going to give you any money back.
If the landlord hasn't cashed the check then he/she may be reasonable
and let you out of it with some repercussions. But both parties on the lease
would need to want the same thing.
This isn't even an issue that concerns the landlord. Your probably going
to have to take your partner to court.
However, if a occupant uses drugs they can be evicted, getting the landlord
to do so is, well, probably impossible.
