In Reply to: How do I find out how my house is zoned? posted by Rob on March 06, 2000 at 15:48:15:
: I live in a house in Flushing where the first floor is a doctor's office that I believe is exceeding it's zoning laws for the amount of business going on there, plus exceeding legal capacity for the lawful number of people in the office at any given time. I have read through the nytenant's zoning booklet and it was not really helpful, because how do I find out how my particular lot is zoned?
: Thank you in advance.
Read the maps or the texts from the source: New York City Planning Commission.
It may also be in violation of the Building Code also, at least in that they would need a Certificate of Occupancy that reflects this commercial/professional use. There has been a lot of discussion of a related subject, Illegal Conversions, this year: read your borough President's page on this. It also discusses zoning.
