: My landlord recently agreed to allow me to break my lease and refund my security deposit because maintenance issues plagued my tenancy.

: I moved out a month ago, and she has not yet refunded my money. I have called and sent several lawyer's letters threatening to sue if she doesn't return my security. She has not responded to these repeated attempts to settle.

: Does anyone know any organinizations that can help me pursue this at an affordable cost? Help appreciated.

You moved out a month ago and already sent several lawyer's letters? And suddenly this lawyer is no longer affordable?

Small Claims Court: sue for up to $3000 here in NY, similar elsewhere.
