IMD Tenant

Posted by Tony on March 13, 2000 at 14:57:48:

I am interested in buying a particular building with other memebers of my family in Manhattan. I am told the three story building is designated as a 'loft', and there is a tenant on the first floor who is classified as IMD (interim multiple dwelling). The tenant is paying very low rent and it would be difficult financially to own the building with this tenant occupying the largest space in the building, not to mention our family would need the space for ourselves. Is it possible to evict this tenant in a similar manner as an owner of a rent stabilized building can evict a tenant if he wants an apartment for himself?
