: Incidentally, it's not a good idea to post specific info on this board that can identify you and your building.

Why Not? If its the truth and it can get some attention from the media....and if she gets harassed..... well maybe she can make some $$$$$$ on it.

: : Every other day it seems, tenants at the twin highrise at 580 & 590 Flatbush Ave, Brooklyn, must walk the stairs because elevators are out. There are 3 in each building. Imagine the elderly, mothers and children (fathers too) walking stairs up to 17 stories. The issue is also causing a security concern. Rents here are stabilized and range from approx $700-2000. Repeated complains to building management has not brought relief. I am guessing the buildings are early 1960s with over 200 units each. Where can we get help to remedy this problem?

: You certainly have a building-wide reduction of services, and can file a complaint to that effect with the DHCR. You'll need to document the elevator problems and your complaints to management.
: At the very least, a complaint will get things moving. If they don't restore services, you will get a rent freeze (though it will take a zillion years before the DHCR acts).
: DHCR is Dept. of Housing and Community Renewal, incidentally. Call the number for them in Jamaica for the forms.
