Respondent/Undertenant

Posted by Mindy on March 27, 2000 at 20:19:22:

I received a Notice to Pay and paid my landlord all back rent due.

I live in a rent-stablized room in a residential hotel.

Tonite I found a "Notice of Petition Non-Payment Dwelling" attached to my door. I am named as the Respondent/tenanant and there is also a reference to -and- "John and/or Jane Doe" Respondent/undertenant after my name.

On the third page on the left another tenant (whom I do not know) is listed with her total debt while on the right of the page her rent 'owed' is listed and then followed by my former owed payments. It looks like our petitions somehow got merged.

My questions are: What is the significance of listing me as respondent followed by -and- "John and/or Jane Doe", Respondent/undertenant.

Why is there another tenant's Petition merged with mine?

Mindy
