Sublet, sublet Rights?

Posted by Chris on April 14, 2000 at 13:12:37:

Brooklyn, NY. I live in a loft, not zoned for living. I have lived here for over 3 years. The landlord recently increased the rent of our floor by $200/mo. I split the rent with one other person, he has the lease on the floor, meaning each of our shares of the rent went up $100. The total rent for the floor is somewhere around $1500. As a response to this increase, The guy I rent from added additional space to my space and is increasing the rent from $800 to $1250. Do I have any rights regarding this increase under a sublet, under a lease?
