Call Legal Aid: if you still qualify for Section 8, you probably qualify for them. Even if you don't: some of their offices have drop-in services: they will listen to your story, advise you, but not represent you in court. A very valuable service. They also have more experience with and knowledge about Section 8 rules than other neighborhood Tenant Clinics. You could also try the Pro Se Attorney at the Queens Housing Court: s/he's there to help all unrepresented L&T people.
