I would like to do some remodeling in my kitchen but I don't want to incur a rent hike of 1/40th of the cost. I'm willing to pay for anything I do. How far can I legally go without requiring permission of the landlord? For example, can I install cabinets that can be removed if I vacate the apartment? Any information would be appreciated.
