This is all very confusing. Did you already go to court on this new case and file an Answer?

Go to Housing Court tomorrow: get a complete photocopy of that first lawsuit. Bring that and all your new lawsuit papers to the Pro Se attorney there: he can counsel you. Bring all your old lawsuit papers from home too.

PS: there's a law somewhere that says that if you pay cash, the court must give you the benefit of the doubt if the landlord claims you paid a different amount than you claim. Tenant.net has a lot of laws posted: try looking for 'cash' or 'receipt' over there.
