Just ended a 12 month lease (actually stayed for 1 extra mo./13 total), payed our last month's rent, spent several hours cleaning house, had carpets pro cleaned, absolutely no holes in walls, a couple of minor things which I expected to be charged for (broken "wand" for vert blinds, etc.). Just recieved the itemization for repairs and I owe him $244.47! He plans on keeping my $1200 for things like repainting, cleaning carpets (again?), replacing vertical blinds (not just the "wand") and other balogna...I live in Riverside, California. This was a 12 month lease on a three bedroom home in a decent area our rent was $850 (we decided not to stay when he wanted $975 with absolutely no improvements to said home...what can I do? Didn't take pictures but could get affidavits from several of those who helped in the move and cleaning...would this do any good in court?
