put a STOP PAYMENT on the checks, if they were not cashed yet...

it is fraud plain and simple.... you were shown one apt for rent by the broker and based on that apt you agreed to move in.. she did not tell you THEN that the apt was not for rent... you saw the lease, with a different apt number on it and you told broker and she changed the number back to the one you saw... this is important, when you told her the apt number was not the one you saw...she did not TELL YOU THEN, that the apt you saw is not the one for rent....

send the landlord and the broker a certified letter return receipt requested and DEMAND that you get your money back based on MISREPRESENTATION which is a gentle word for FRAUD.... if you move into the apt... you will be laughed out of the court room... without a certified letter explaining that you will live in it on a month to month basis until a more suitable place is found in the apt o by the broker and the landlord agrees to let you go... you have a lot of work to do..
