Sorry if this is posted twice.

I am in the same sit. and was wondering what the"legal" life of a fridge is. Mine is only 8 yrs, but my landload wants to replace it because he owns an appliance store. Frankly, I'd rather not have a rent increase and want it repaired. What should I do? Also, if he buys the fridge wholesale, do I have to pay retail (the 1/40th thing)??
