If the apartment if rent-stabilized, you have the right to renew. Doesn't matter if ownership has changed hands. Check out fact sheet on lease renewal on tenant.net.

: Can a landlord who recently took over the building refuse to give me my option to renew my rent stablized apartment when my current renewal runs out? Can he evict me because he just wants the place? Do I have a right to the option to renew, and for one or two years, or is this just an extended courtesy that can be revoked at the landlord's whim, whether or not the tenant pays their rent on time, and isn't a noisy, disruptive neighbor?
