We do police the board. If something is inappropriate, we can (and sometimes do) remove it. But at the same time, we don't want to carry too much of a heavy hand. Our goal is to have an open forum, but not to let it get out of control. Tenants can get "tips" from fellow tenants, but no one here is acting in the capacity of an attorney, and some advice is just wrong. So whatever is said here should be bolstered with independent research. Yes, some really dumb questions are asked (you really ought to see the dumb email we get) and some really arrogant answers are given. People come here with different levels of understanding (and they don't read all the previous messages), so a little patience and tolerance is called for, but we're not going to jump all over someone for occasional snippiness. It's a judgment call.

: This post underlines my belief that Tenant.net should be do a better job of policing this board and deleting offensive posts.
: Not everybody is an expert in the finer points of tenant law and the DHCR. People should be encouraged to ask questions and should not be flamed when they ask a "dumb" question.
: There are no "dumb" questions, only arrogant answers.
