Whatever happened to the high minded ideal of "pro-bono" ? Gee, lawyers should just work for free, right ? And while were at at, how about free luxury apartments for nice people like you ! And free food ! And free health care !

The fact is the people don't work for free. Lawyers, doctors, restauranteurs, and yes, landlords, are providing a service for which they deserve to be paid. Otherwise why would they bother ? To demand that someone work for you for "free" is not only ridiculous, its unfair to that person and immoral.

By the way you have acted here it sounds like you are doing a lot to complain about your plight but very little to change it. Why, for example, do you continue to live someplace you aren't happy with ? Lots of other apartments without violations available in New York, if you care to look.

: Whatever happened to the high-minded law professional ideal of "PRO-BONO"?
: You mean to tell me that lawyers are just out for the bucks?
: Are you telling me that if you want to play, you gotta pay?
