Do you have any receipts? Did you pay in cash? Do you have a lease signed for? Have you had any conversation with LL? Was last conversation left on good or bad terms? Is the building under that owner's name? If you have receipts, like a cashed check, then you have proof that LL has been accepting your money. You have a paper trail. If you have a lease, so much the better. Check your lease for details, anything unusual appear? Was anything written or typed into the regular lease? What kind of lease do you have? Is it on Blumberg stationary? Check nolo press' website for detailings on wordings. As far as coming across an attorney, look up your city's yellow pages for that. Good luck.
