I wouldn't focus on finding a law. Rather, bear in mind that as a month to month tenant, your tenancy can be ended on 30 days notice. This means if your guest offends the landlord (for ANY reason) he can simply give you 30 days notice that he is ending your tenancy. He doesn't have to justify his actions (just as you would not have to justify yourself should you decide to move out).

As had been advised, I'd keep it very low key if you are going to have this guest over, and would look for other quarters if the guest is going to be a regular visitor. Just seems like it would be easier for everyone concerned.
