Should my apartment be rent stabilized?

Posted by J.T. on December 05, 2000 at 11:52:20:

I have lived in my apartment for 2 years, and, to my knowledge, it is a free-market apartment. My rent is being increased this year by a very large ammount, and my landlord is unwilling to negotiate.

All of my neighbors who I know have rent stabilized units. I also used the tool on the tenant.net website and found that there are both stabilized and controlled units in my building, but it does not say which ones.

Is it possible that my landlord misled me when I signed my lease, and that my unit is actually rent stabilized as well? How can I find out whether it is stabilized or free-market?
