I paid a rental deposit for a townhouse for myself and husband, however I have been estranged from him due to irreconcilable differences, in which I left for my safety. I want my deposit of $525.00 and a new contract issued to him for dwelling in the place, so that I will not be responsible for any damage that incurs during his tenure there. Does the same rules apply to married couples as room mates in the matter of the deposit, to issue a new deposit and least for remaining tenant?
I live in Virginia Beach Va. there is a written lease. They are townhouse (row homes) built about 18 years ago.
