: : Hi everyone. I signed a one-year lease back in September of 1999. This past September, we renewed for an additional year. We recently were informed by our Landlord that they would not be renewing our lease this upcoming September. When asked why, they told us that the Super has a lot of children and needs a bigger apt, namely ours. Does anyone know if this is ok to do? We really do not want to have to move. Thanks in advance!

: Are you rent stabilized? If so,the landlord can only take your apartment for use by himself or his immediate family. So - unless the super is family - you are protected. Of course, if you're free market - the landlord can refuse to renew for any reason.
