: I signed a one year lease in April of 1993. Of course the lease was up in April of 1994. I had verbally agreed to pay on a month to month basis which I had done up until March of 2000. At that time repairs were needed and the landlord new of the things needing to be repaired. The landlord understood that no payments would be made until the repairs had been made. On May 10 of 2000, the landlord came by to see what necessary repairs were needed. That was the last time I heared from the landlord until January 8, 2001. My question would be if the landlord were to ask for back rent, would I have to pay it?
