don't pay the last months rent.

you can pay all the rent due and wait for your money or be one month behind and default on your deposit (assuming it is the same amount of your rent). There is the danger of having broken things the landlord can claim so good luck.

: I will be vacating my apartment in two months. I live in non rent controlled apt. in NYC On a condo with more than six apartments. The landlord owns only one (mine).

: I have never received any notice with where my security is deposited. And when asked they told me that it is in their checking account (commingled).
