Disabled Tenant of Non-Profit Agency/Lease Renewal

Posted by Richard Vickers on January 18, 2001 at 21:20:03:

I am a disabled tenant living as a client (for four years) of a non-profit, scattered-site housing program (the lessee) in a rent stabilized apartment. While the arrears have been satisfied, as a result of the non-payment case, the landlord has chosen NOT to renew the lease(expired 11/30/2000) for the non-profit agency.

I would like to know if someone can assist me in learning what rights, if any, I have to the apartment.

Personal Income: Social Security (SSI) 30% of income paid to non-profit as "prgram fee".

Located in Elmhurst, NY (Queens County)11373
Building has 15 units.
Built approx. 1975
Rent stabilized

Any information will be much apprciated.

Thank you,

R. VIckers
