If she takes the day off....She has to get the C of O anyway from the building Dept, And Make copies of the BLUEPRINTS of the building, ....so a personal appearence at DHCR, will mean she can leave with a rent and building history and not have to worry if they FORGOT to send it.

But ANY 5 unit building should be investigated completely.....you never know what you will find.......

Look at it this way.....its like playing the lottery...she might find the landlord did nothing wrong and its a legal 5 unit building, and lose a vacation day...but what if she wins the lottery and finds out it should be stabilized?

Considering the odds.....this is a no brainer

: Good advice, but you don't have to actually go to DHCR. You can just call DHCR's Rent Info Line at (718) 739-6400 and ask for your apartment's rent history to be mailed to you. It will come in the mail in 3 or 4 days.
