:If they are guaranteed their money with a co-signer, I don't understand the problem. The rent has never been late nor has there ever been any complaints about me. They say that I am a good tenant. Please help!!!!!!!!

Most leases hold each cotenant "jointly and severally" liable for the entire lease. In other words, no matter that you've paid your half, you're still liable for the other half.

When someone owes you money, there's a big difference between being "guaranteed" the money, and being paid the money. To resolve this, you're probably going to have to pay off the old landlord, then take your previous roommate to court yourself.

On the other hand, you can probably keep living there in your boyfriend's name for some time.
