It was a rhetorical question. Obviously, the point of checking court records is to rule out potential tenants who might conceivably stand up for their rights.

: Because we landlords can't tell the difference between a good applicant with a bad landlord and a bad applicant. And because with RS apartments, a landlord can be made to live with his/her renting decisions for years if not decades, why take the risk?
