I live in a rent-stabilized studio in Manhattan. For almost three months, beginning in December, I didn't have gas for the stove or oven in my apartment. (Neither did the rest of the building.) Apparently, the pipes in the building had never been replaced or maintained, and just gave out. The gas finally came back on last week, but I feel entitled to some compensation, considering I had to buy takeout for almost three months, and had to take quite a bit of time off from work so that repairs could be done in my apartment. The landlord has refused to grant me any kind of abatement. Any suggestions?
