: I have a tenant that is doing the same thing this month and I have already reported him to the credit reporting agency. I am also filing to get a money judgment that will be on his record for the next 10 years. Once I have that money judgment, I can seize his property to satisfy it. I am, however, not in NYC. Different laws may apply.
I hope so. In most democracies you don't "file for a money judgment," you sue--and if the amount of money owed in rent is offset by the security, or there is some other counterclaim, you may not get a penny. I'd be careful about filing that credit report until you get a judgment. If you lose you may have a libel problem with the tenant.
