Answer: farfetched, I don't believe that Bob-Lo is the closest non-French-speaking people could come up with, but here's the official urban legend on the origin of the name:

"Bob-Lo was the best the non-French locals could do with the pronunciation of Bois Blanc, and it stuck and became official in 1949. "
