Just one observation re your lawyer--it is good to have a lawyer in any case involving eviction or other court action, or large sums of money. Otherwise the cost of the lawyer can exceed any possible recovery.
Sometimes at the DHCR not having a lawyer can actually be an advantage, if the other side is represented. The problem is that you have to do all the work yourself.
