Why do so many tenants think that the sale of the building where they live affects their rights?

Unless your lease contains a provision that allows the cancellation of the lease upon the sale of the building, your lease remains in effect with the new landlord.

: Our building is for sale. Do we have a right to keep our apartment after the landlord sells the building? We have a 2 year lease with another year left on it.
