I was told that in a rent stabilized building, the owner can evict a tenant from an apartment to move a family member in.
If this is true:
Is there any way for the tenant being evicted to verify that it is actually the owner's relative moving into the apartment and not an unrelated tenant?
What is the minimum amount of time the owner's family member must reside in the apartment before it can be rented out to a tenant not related?
How can the evicted tenant verify that the owner's family member has been living in the apartment for the minimum amount of time required? And if they haven't, can the evicted tenant take legal action against the owner?
