If you're willing to make those concessions - why don't you ask if you can have the next renovated apartment when it becomes available and explain why. The renovations in the other apartments probably include more than you would be asking for in the kitchen/bath remodeling so you would have all new.

When I read your post, I thought this can't be.... 2001 !!!! When I visited Europe in 1969, the same conditions existed in the home of a cousin and I came home thinking how backward some European countries were. I didn't realize that these same conditions exist in one of the largest and finest cities in the world - today!!!Hard to fathom!!
