Transfer of Rent Stabilization Apartment Fees to DOF
March 8, 2001
The New York State Division of Housing and Community Renewal (DHCR) administers the NYC Rent Stabilization Law. The City of New York is required to reimburse DHCR for cost incurred in administering the law. NYC charges owners of rent stabilized properties $10.00 per rent stabilized apartment (RSA) to recoup this payment.
As of March 5, 2001, delinquent rent stabilized fees have been transferred to DOF for collection and now will appear on the DOF history printout. Consequently, delinquent RSA fees are liens which are subject to tax foreclosure through in-rem actions or lien sales.
To answer questions regarding the number of rent stabilized apartments, you can contact DHCR at 92-21 Union Hall Street, Jamaica, New York, 11431 or call (718) 739-6400.
To answer questions concerning the status of payments or charges, the owners name and/or address, etc., contact the Department of Finance, Special Programs Unit, Brooklyn, New York,
11201 or call (718) 935-6327.
