HPD allowing violations?!

Posted by Mark Ralin on June 20, 2001 at 21:11:08:

I have made (3) complaints this past month. The first problem is that
I live in a three building complex and the Co-Op registered the building to one address. When the Inspector comes for an inspection
the supt. tells him there is nothing wrong in the building and never makes it to my building.
The second problem is that the owner/agent that is on the complaint
has nothing to do with the building anymore.I told supervisor #7 at
HPD (would'nt give his name) that this is all wrong. He said that the landlord must change all this information and until the landlord
changes this information will remain as is.
As far as the complaints, We have had no intercom system for months.
The ventilation system has'nt been working for years because the switch on the motor is busted. On my floor the sprinkler system interfers with
the door to the stairway can't open all the way(should be 36" in all
directions on the landing).
I believe there is a fraud being perpetrated by HPD and the landlord
to avoid prosecution by giving the Buildings dept. improper info.
Who can force the CO-OP to comply with the State Multiple Dwelling
Law? Thanking You in Advance.
