TenantNet: That's NOT The New Rent Stabilization Code

Posted by New York Tenant on June 24, 2001 at 11:20:47:

On its home page, TenantNet says that it has posted the NEW Rent Stabilization Code.

Previously, TenantNet had posted (1) DHCR's December 2000 changes to the four different rent codes that are effective in New York City and other parts of the state, (2) DHCR's proposed changes to the four codes, and (3) comments on the proposed changes by tenant lawyers.

Unfortunately, the supposedly NEW Rent Stabilization Code isn't accurate. It seems to be the old code, updated with DHCR's PROPOSED changes -- not with the FINAL changes, which were adopted on December 20, 2000, and which differ from the proposed changes in many respects.

I wish TenantNet would reinstate what it had previously posted and leave that on the website. The comments of the tenant lawyers, the proposed changes, and the final changes are all very valuable, and make for interesting comparisons.

And when TenantNet is able to post a full and accurate version of the current Rent Stabilization Code, it should do so, but it should also leave the old code, DHCR's proposed changes, the lawyers' comments on the proposed changes, and DHCR's final changes.
