Dog Died LL refuses to decrease rent

Posted by Michelle on July 09, 2001 at 11:42:14:

We are renting the top floor of a private home in Yonkers, we have no lease. When we moved in last October we were told the rent was $1200 per month. The landlord then decided to charge us an additional $100 per month since we had a dog. The dog passed last month, so when we submitted our rent check we paid $1200, LL had a fit and said rent was 1300 all along regardless of the fact that dog had died. The rela estate broker had also confirmed the lsiting at $1200 per month and such is indicated by her comission check. My question is do we have a leg to stand on since it irritates me to pay that extra hundred a month

thank you
