Reading all these posts, my general impression is that everybody's right. Dayann was right to post for info here while also seeking legal advice, Phil was right to suggest consulting a lawyer, and LL and Provost made good points. Yes, she should be looking for another apartment and yes, she should fight. And she is doing both.

Only one thing was done wrong, Dayann, with all due respect. It is important to, as much as possible, ANONYMIZE what you post here. This board is closely followed by landlords and their lawyers. It is usually best that your plans and legal strategies not be disclosed to the opposition.
