Non-refundable deposit does sound a little strange, I agree. That's what all the apartments in this area call it.

Even so, is there a way to prevent the new owner from deducting from my security deposit any pet related damages when I move out since I already paid $200 to cover that up front? With the original lease, I was told that was what is was for.
