showing apt. without me at home?

Posted by scoop on July 25, 2001 at 22:19:38:

Can my LL show my apt. when I am not at home? I do not feel safe in letting strangers walk about my home without me being there. What if something is broken or comes up missing? Could I hold my LL liable?
My lease states"The tenants agree to permit LL to show the premises to persons wishing to rent the same (apt)". Is this without limits? I asked that I be present during the showings. Does my LL have to comply to my reasonable wishe? Common sense would say YES, but what about the law in NYS? Any help out there?
